I love working as a graphic designer in Alpharetta, and living in Atlanta (the city, not the “area”). It’s amazing to be able to witness how communication through design influences two very different environments.
Meaning in Alpharetta: “Merge”
Meaning in Atlanta: “I drive a Mini Cooper. I can do whatever I want.”
Meaning in Alpharetta: “What STOP sign?”
Meaning in Atlanta: “4-Way = My Way”
Meaning in Alpharetta: “Stop and look at the pretty lights…”
Meaning in Atlanta: “My car’s paid for!”
I’m just curious as to exactly when these beautiful pieces of graphic symbolism, that we call street signs, changed meaning.
Food for thought.
